“Beware the quiet at sea, laddie. Trouble a’ways travels in silence.”

attr. ‘Scottish’ George 1745- 1798

……he’d heard the same from the mouths of a dozen old salts over the years but ‘Scottish’ George had been the first. Tonight was, unmistakably, just such a night. There was wind enough to cool your cheek, but none to move the ship. Above the mast , the moon’s brittle light hung meekly in the sky. A shadow spilled from the leeward side and in the darkness, sea snakes coiled and swam. Suddenly : Commotion, and they were gone. As the last ripples melted into the hull, boards creaked and the great sails sighed loosely. Bare feet ran to the rail and ashen faces peered anxiously towards the depths. Breathlessly, we all formed the same thought ….. Again?….. Surely not ….. Now, dark shapes could be seen hurrying below the Marcella and a rumble was rising from the deep, it was happening again. In one voice we sounded the alarm ….

“KR-A-A-A-A-A-A-KEN!”

Set in the Golden Age of Sail, Nine Fathom Deep casts you out to sea as both the hunted and the hunter; the Captain of a Fleet of ships plying your trade across the world’s oceans and the legendary terror of the deep, giant of the gloomy depths, scourge of mariners everywhere and two time Heavyweight Champion of the World…… the Kraken!

While there are aspects of strategy and resource management involved, Nine Fathom Deep is, primarily, a game of the eye and the imagination. Though the Siren’s song may call you and Pirates may steal from you, the key to victory is in mastering the deceptively tricky mechanic that is the Kraken. Can you visualise and direct a tentacle to sink its prey? Can you select the correct Spike and make the kill?

Destiny awaits you on the high seas ….. It’s time to get on board ..... Are you ready?….. Matey!
